Author Akhil Mohan Patnaik, known as a realist narrator, was born in 1926 in Khordha. His father, Bank Bihari Patnaik, was the headmaster of Khordha High School. After graduating from Akhil Mohan Khordha High School with a degree in law from Cuttack Madhusudan Law College, he entered the legal profession.

As a student, he joined the student movement, inspired by leftist ideology. He was sentenced to life in prison. While practicing law, he concentrated on literary writing. His completely different ideas and realistic stories made the modern story world flourish.
His first collection of short stories, "Jhadara egal o dharani ra krushnasara," was published on the 19th. In 181, he was awarded the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for his collection of short stories "O Andhagali". His other popular works include the collection of short stories "The Name of the River Democracy", "Pratham o sesha", the travelogue "Anya Desha", and the biography "Baghrani Khairi". The eminent writer passed away on November 27, 1982, at the age of 57.
