Garden flat – Eleven Gables Inn and Cottage

Unwind in our peaceful Garden Flat. Enjoy a quiet stay with ground floor entrance and free use of our pier for swimming.
Built in the 1870’s as a lake house by a wealthy Chicago businessman for his concubine. The inn has original flooring and woodwork with 9 foot ceilings of plaster and lath.

Before refrigeration Geneva Lake and Powers Lake because of their clear clean water, were farmed for their ice and shipped to Chicago. The estate still has the original ice house which is now part of the inn. Unfortunately because of rapid climate change most winters Geneva Lake no longer freezes over.

We use the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) standards to pay our cleaners a living wage.
